Craig has a vision for New College Berkeley seeing it as a “third space” for the Church and the academy to discern what gospel-faithfulness calls for in these extraordinary times.
Dr. Craig Wong co-founded Ekklesiae, a ministry that fosters theological conversation and gospel friendship among leaders across culture, tradition and generation. He has thirty-plus years of congregational leadership, nonprofit consulting, and grant writing experience. He earned a Master of Arts and a Doctor of Ministry (in the Sacred Art of Writing, Eugene Peterson Center for the Christian Imagination) at Western Theological Seminary.
“ I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to forge the future of New College Berkeley, and in my spiritual birthplace, having met Jesus through a Berkeley Chinese church as a freshman at Cal. I envision New College as a ‘third space’ for the Church and the academy (secular and theological) to discern what gospel faithfulness calls for in these extraordinary times. I want to see folks come together to cultivate not only sound Christian thinking, but lasting gospel friendships as well.” -– Craig Wong
“It’s with great thankfulness that I join the Board of Trustees in welcoming Dr. Tim Tseng and Craig Wong to the directorship of New College Berkeley. Both men have been acquainted with our ministry for many years and are eager to lead it in serving our large constituency and in expanding its reach, especially more deeply into the community of U. C. Berkeley. They bring remarkable gifts and experience to this work! I’m happy to be invited to continue to serve on the faculty and to direct spiritual formation programs, and I’ll always be a supporter of this distinctive and graced ministry. I join you in praying that God will continue to bless New College Berkeley under the direction of these gifted leaders.”
