Annual Earl Palmer Seminar: The Book of Psalms - A Sourcebook for Faith and Living (Saturday, April 22, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.) First Presbyterian Church of Berkeley, 2407 Dana, Berkeley, Sanctuary. Cost $50 ($90 per couple; $25 student) (with lunchThe Psalms are memorable poems, and “any kind of poetry can be seen as a metaphor for life….[Poems are] free expressions adorning an enduring framework, like fresh blossoms on a garden trellis..[which] hint strongly at God's intentions for the way every life should be lived" (Walt Hearn, Radix, 2016, 39(<1), p. 3). Join the Rev. Earl Palmer for a day spent reflecting together on the key role that the Psalms of the Old Testament play in our discipleship as followers of Jesus Christ. Register. 


I Am the Vine, You are the Branches: A Wine Country Memoir Writing Retreat with Sharon Gallagher and Susie Lipps (Saturday, May 6, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.), a private room in Healdsburg. Cost: $50 for retreat, including lunch (wine at an additional cost). At this wine-country retreat, a small group will gather to write stories about their spiritual journeys in response to biblical metaphors relating to the Vineyard. Join us for a morning of soul-cultivation. Sharon Gallagher (MTS), a member of the New College Berkeley faculty, is the editor of Radix magazine and author of Finding Faith. She frequently teaches memoir-writing classes for NCB. Susie Lipps (MAGL), the founder of Conversations in the Vineyard, has spent many years leading and consulting for Christian non-profit ministries, including International Impact and Synergy Women’s Network. Space limited to 12 participants.  Register.
